History & Culture in Udaipur

Thehistory of Udaipur started with Maharana Udai Singh Udaipur who ruled the city till many years and made it as the capital city of Mewar for centuries. Once, Maharana Udai Singh met a sage while hunting and the sage directed the ruler to build up a kingdom in the ripe valley that that would be very much ensured by the raised Aravalli Hills.Hence, Maharana Udai Singh established the kingdom of Udaipur in the year 1557 A.D.

Chittorgarh was the previous capital of the Rajput kingdom of Mewar. Maharana Udai Singh was a substitution of the Sisodias, who claimed to be a major part of the family of the Sun God.
