Visit Manikaran - The Town of Hot Water Springs and Temples , Gurudwara
Manikaran is a major pilgrimage and its hot water springs draws a lot of attraction. You will find this spot around 45 km from Kullu, at an altitude of 1760 m above the sea level The sulfur water shower is famously known in the place. It is a pool of water that gets heated naturally/geothermally as it emerges from the Earth’s crust. The water is said to have healing properties. The hot water springs in Manikaran cover a region of around 1.2 kms and is situated on the banks of Parvati River which flows across the town.The food is being cooked here for most of the time in the large utensils. People take small amount of rice and cook them in the Spring here and take it back with them. It usually takes 15-20 minutes to cook.Also you can find here sikh gurudwara and Hindu temples.Manikaran Place is concatenated with Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Legends hold it that once while roaming through the Parvati valley, Shiva and Parvati came across the place called Manikaran and they decided to stay for a vacation. During this, Goddess Parvati lost her Mani one of her precious stones in the waters stream. On Lord Shiva’s order, Sheshnag (Serpent God) hissed thereby giving rise to a flow of boiling water. Results in, the water spread over the entire area resulting in the emergence of precious stones Goddess Parvati. Therefore, this temple got the name- Manikaran, which is now a top pilgrimage site and among the best Kullu & Manali tourist places. A Gurudwara is also fixed here, named- The Guru Nanak Devji Gurudwara which is also popular as Manikaran Gurudwara and is linked with Guru Nanak. The gurudwara has a langar that offers free food. Kulant Pith is a nearby spot situated in Manikaran is which is considered to be the most sacred pith across India.Ramchandra Temple is very near to Manikaran Temple which is the one of the renowned temples of Kasol in Himachal- Pradesh. Maha Shivratri is celebrated among local residents and ardent devotees of Lord Shiva who come a long way for the commemoration. Manikaran has a pleasant weather throughout the year. The best time to visit Manikaran is from December to March, as taking the dip in hot boiling water would be an amazing experience when the whole valley is covered with snow. Note : In Gurudwara you need to covered your head .
